The annual HoshizakiIceMaker.com "Supporting STEM Scholarship" awards a winning recipent of $1,000 for the support of STEM education for college students.

 

 HoshizakiIceMaker.com proudly awards the 2018 Supporting STEM Scholarship to Kathleen Coen from Georgetown University.


            Starting her first year at Georgetown University, Kathleen Coen is a Computer Science major looking to minor in government. Excelling in math and science throughout her early academics, she first joined a robotics team in the fourth grade. She began to code in low-level languages in high school, focusing on two major projects. The first was her published app, SteerClear, which she started writing during her time at Goldman Sachs’ Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program. The second was a research project with the Office of Naval Research that used side power channel analysis and machine learning to detect malware on SSDs. Kathleen hopes to work in the public sector of cyber security after college, and she is humbled to receive the Hoshizakiicemaker.com STEM scholarship as it will help her achieve that dream.
