Is the newer model a direct swap?
It is the model Hoshizaki lists as the successor, so it does the same job at a comparable ice output. Footprint, electrical supply and water connections can still differ between generations - call us with your install and we will check it against the new unit before you order.
Can I still buy this one?
Only while our remaining stock lasts. Once it is gone it is not restocked, and parts for a retired model get scarcer and more expensive from that point on.
What happens to my warranty and parts?
The newer model ships with a full factory warranty and a parts supply that is not winding down. That is the practical difference between the two, more than the ice output is.

It boasts foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation in all of the bin walls and the bottom of the unit to provide you with maximum ice preservation. The BD-500PF features a durable Vinyl-Clad cabinet with a seamless, easy to clean, polyethylene bin liner. This model comes Standard with 6″ Painted Legs and a Top-hinged front-opening bin door. 3/4″ FPT drain.
