Scale and Water Quality: Protecting Your Hoshizaki Investment
Water quality affects ice appearance, taste, production, cleaning frequency, and component life. The right treatment starts with a current water test and the requirements of the installed Hoshizaki model.
Understand the site water
Test for hardness, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, chlorine or chloramine, sediment, and other local concerns. Scale can restrict water flow and coat heat-transfer surfaces, while aggressive or improperly treated water can contribute to corrosion.
Match treatment to the problem
Select filtration or treatment for the measured water conditions, required flow, and equipment specification. A generic cartridge may not address hardness or disinfectant chemistry, and treatment that removes too much mineral content can also create problems. Follow current manufacturer guidance.
