There is no single guaranteed lifespan for every commercial ice machine. Service life depends on the exact model, workload, water quality, ambient conditions, installation quality, cleaning, preventive maintenance, and how quickly small problems are corrected.
Correct voltage, drainage, ventilation, clearances, water pressure, and ambient conditions help the machine operate as designed. An undersized machine that runs near its limit every day may experience more wear than a correctly sized system.
Scale, sediment, and biological buildup can reduce performance and damage components. Choose filtration for the site water and equipment requirements, replace cartridges on the applicable schedule, and clean and sanitize the machine according to the current manufacturer instructions and local health requirements.
A commercial ice machine does not produce a full bin immediately after startup. The first harvest time and the time required to fill a bin depend on the exact model, ice type, incoming-water temperature, room temperature, ventilation, water pressure, bin size, and equipment condition.
After water and power are supplied, the machine completes its control checks and begins a freeze cycle. It then harvests the ice and starts the next cycle. Cycle behavior differs by product family, so the current installation and service manual—not a generic time estimate—is the controlling source.
Published daily production ratings are measured under stated test conditions. Warmer air or water, restricted airflow, scale, dirty components, low water pressure, or an installation problem can reduce output and lengthen cycles.

It can be possible, but a commercial ice machine is not a plug-and-play substitute for a household appliance. Before buying, confirm that the exact model is suitable for the planned location and that the home can support its installation and operating needs.
Verify voltage, circuit requirements, water supply, water pressure, shutoff access, and the drain type and routing required by the current installation manual. A licensed trade professional may be needed, and local plumbing, electrical, building, or sanitation rules can apply.
Air-cooled equipment needs the specified clearances and airflow. Heat rejection, fan and harvest sounds, and compressor operation may be noticeable in a living space. Remote-cooled and water-cooled configurations have different requirements and should not be assumed to solve every location problem.
