Eric Kugel graduated from Mayo High School and will be attending the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. He will be pursuing a combined BS/MS in Computer Science with a minor in Math. He is a US Presidential Scholars Program Candidate, National Merit Scholarship Finalist, and AP Scholar with Distinction. While in high school, he demonstrated leadership in violin as concertmaster of the school orchestra, an integral member of the theater program pit orchestra, a member of Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras, and a member of the MMEA All-State Orchestra. He looks forward to joining the University Philharmonic Orchestra at UMN. He additionally loves playing piano and computer programming. Programming has also led to opportunities for leadership and community service: as a TA, collaborating on a unit-test-based Java grading app for CS teachers, and creating the website
Harris Chen, a recent graduate of Collierville High School and incoming freshman at Columbia University, is a motivated student with a passion for computer science and physics. Graduating at the top of his class, Harris has established a strong foundation in these fields, while simultaneously displaying aptitude as a pianist, swimmer, and enthusiastic volunteer. During the COVID pandemic, Harris took the initiative to establish the AYLUS Greater Memphis chapter, an endeavor that has successfully fostered inclusivity by forging collaborations with local organizations. Under his leadership, the organization orchestrated over 150 philanthropic and volunteer activities, fundraising more than $7,500 and garnering widespread media coverage and mayoral recognition.
Furthermore, Harris has already made many strides in his academic pursuits, having held roles as the captain of his school's Science Olympiad and Science
